Nautilus Home Theater

The Challenge:
This eleven seat, custom-made home theater, based of the interior of the Nautilus submarine from Disney’s classic film 20, 000 Leagues Under the Sea, needed to be constructed primarily off site and installed quickly and efficiently in order to meet budgetary guidelines.

The Solution:
We constructed the vessel’s trusses and rusty pipes of the theater as modular components and allowed for slight adjustments in fit. This made it possible to set up the structure at our shop in Seattle as a freestanding unit and view the parts as a whole. These components, along with the velvet panels and additional wall décor, were then shipped to the residence in Texas, where our installation team went to work attaching them to the walls. A final on-site pass by Dillon Works’ painters added the proper amount of aging and distressing. With these finishing touches complete, it was time to sit back, grab some popcorn, and fire up the projector.

Experience Counts:
Regardless of whether we’re installing our work in a mall during off hours, or on a public sidewalk in the middle of the day, or, in the case of the Nautilus home theater, right next to your bedroom, our installation crews are always, professional, respectful, and careful to treat the space as though it were their own. We know how important it is to be a good guest. After all, it’s the best way to get invited back.
